Memorial Day Service Honoring Nissei Veterans

On May 29th, a Memorial Day Service honoring Japanese American veterans was held at Lake View Cemetery. The service was presented by the Nisei Veterans Committee (NVC). With the opening speech by Colleen Fukui-Sketchley, the program started with a presentation of colors by the Seattle Buddhist Temple Boy Scout Troop 252.

 

Prayers and meditations were given by Rev. Edmund Harris of St. Peter’s Episcopal Parish Seattle, Rinban Katsuya Kusunoki and Rev. Don Castro of Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple, Rev. Taijo Imanaka of Seattle Koyasan Buddhist Temple and Pastor Kerry Kaino of Japanese Presbyterian Church. This year, LTG Gary Volesky, Commanding General, I Corps Joint Base Lewis-McChord was invited as a guest speaker.
