One of the cloud-pruned pines planted by the Uyeda family in the 1960s thrives in a part of the half acre Japanese-style garden maintained by Emery's Garden in Lynnwood. Emery Rhodes purchased the land from the Uyeda family in 1996. According to the Emery's Garden Web site, the Uyeda gardening business landscaped many Japanese style gardens in the area during the 1970s and 1980s.
