Chris Hashimoto, senior first baseman for the Lake Washington High Kangaroos, was named to the All KingCo 4A First Team. He had a .288 batting average with two homeruns, 16 RBIs, 16 runs, four steals and a .432 On Base Percentage. He also had a .976 fielding percentage. The team went 13-7 in the KingCo 4A conference and finished the season in a loss against the Battle Ground High Tigers in the KingCo 4A/ Greater St. Helens playoff for the state tournament. Hashimoto has played football and basketball for the Kangaroos. Next, he will play baseball for the Seattle Blaze in the Washington State Baseball League and also Edmonds Community College this fall.


Team Japan Advances to next round

Team Japan in the 2008 All Nations Cup, a local intercultural soccer event, advanced to the Round of 16 after winning all three games in the qualifier last weekend. Over 40 communities participate in the competition, and the Japanese team beat Russia 3-2 and Omoro Community 1-0 last Saturday and Tanzania 4-2 last Sunday. The team will meet Brazil and England this Saturday and Ireland this Sunday. In the Masters' division, Team Japan will meet Fiji this Friday and Ireland and Brazil this Saturday.
