Seattle Dojo

The judo club called the Seattle Dojo began in the early 1900s. At this time the judo club did not have a building of its own so the members practiced in the basement of Japanese owned hotels in what is now called the International District. In 1934 the current building at 1510 South Washington Street, designed by local architect Allen Kichio Arai, was opened and the club got a practice hall of its own. The building is still in use today.
