Panama Hotel

The Panama Hotel, built in 1910, is the only Japanese hotel from the pre-war period in the city of Seattle which is still operating as a hotel. It is currently run by Jan Johnson who has preserved both the hotel and the Hashidate Baths in the basement. Visitors to this historic landmark can enjoy the Panama Hotel Teahouse, an excellent historical exhibit on the old Seattle Nihonmachi, and a unique view into the hotel's basement where the where the personal belongings of many Japanese families were stored during the Second World War.
