Kubota Gardens

In 1924 Fujitaro Kubota purchased five acres of swampland in Rainier Beach for his growing business, the Kubota Gardening Company. Over the years it expanded to twenty acres. Kubota landscaped his acreage in the style of a Japanese garden using native Pacific Northwest plants. In 1981 the garden was designated as an historical landmark by the City of Seattle and has been maintained by the Department of Parks and Recreation.
