Nadine Iwata, standing center in the picture above, was selected as the 1967 Nisei Queen to participate in Seafair as the Nikkei community’s representative. Nineteen years old and a University of Washington freshman, Nadine is the second daughter of Mr. Iwata, a local insurance agent.

Princess Marlene Sumiyoshi, on the left, is a UW sophomore from Hawaii. Marianne Nakahara, right, is the daughter of Mr. J.M. Nakahara. She is 19 years old and a UW sophomore.
